MA Event - Desister & Detransitioner Awareness Presentation at MIT
Livestreamed & In Person, 11/24
Democrats For An Informed Approach To Gender (DIAG), along with MIT’s Open Discourse Society (MODS), is sponsoring a presentation by desister Simon Amaya Price, Born in the Right Body: Desister and Detransitioner Awareness. Simon will share his personal story of desisting from a transgender identity. He will also speak about Berklee's cancellation of his event, the importance of free speech, and bigger picture issues. There will be ample time for questions and open discussion. Register for in-person or live-streamed attendance here.
Originally scheduled to take place at Berklee College of Music, where Simon is a student, his presentation was canceled by the administration “due to safety concerns.” Lance Reynolds at the Boston Herald has done excellent reporting on this in his 11/17 article Boston music school cancels ex-transgender college student’s awareness presentation.
Simon and DIAG believe that increased awareness of the social, legal and medical issues faced by desisters and detransitioners will help policy makers, educators, healthcare providers and the general public to engage in meaningful, open discourse, broaden their understanding of this contentious issue and better support the needs of this growing but often ignored community.
We hope you will join us for this important event!

Join us for a presentation by a trans desister and Berklee student, Simon B. Amaya Price, followed by an open Q+A with a panel of experts.
What happens when you transition medically and/or socially then realize it was the wrong decision? This is a question doctors, psychologists, the media, and educational professionals are too afraid to ask. If you support free speech, inquiry, or the autistic and LGB communities, this event is for you.
All are welcome and encouraged to join! A livestream link will be sent to all registrants.
In collaboration with Democrats for an Informed Approach to Gender (DIAG) and MIT's Open Discourse Society (MODS).
